Success at the Supreme Court of Maryland

On July 26, 2023, after a 3 year and 3 month long appeals process, Cara O’Brien and Avalon Brandt of O’Brien Law obtained justice for a client when the Supreme Court of Maryland found that, in April 2020, the circuit court abused its discretion in granting a motion to preclude their client’s medical expert and erred when it granted summary judgment. The Supreme Court of Maryland found that their client presented sufficient evidence to proceed to trial, reversed the Appellate Court of Maryland and remanded the case to the circuit court for trial. Their client was exposed to lead-based paint as a child at an apartment in Baltimore City.

O’Brien Law is grateful that the Supreme Court of Maryland heard the case and for its thorough and thoughtful analysis of the facts and the law. The team at O’Brien Law is also excited to make a positive contribution to Maryland law. It was truly an honor and privilege to appear before the Supreme Court of Maryland.

The fight is not over but O’Brien Law is proud to continue to fight for a very patient and deserving client!
